God's Love, Gratitude, Remember Your Blessings, Seize the day

An attitude of gratitude makes all the difference in life, and fortunately there is always something to be grateful about. Perhaps the greatest gift, which can sometimes be overlooked, is the gift of life itself. The small things that sometimes get us down melt away when we remember the blessing of being alive to live another day in God’s Love.

Have you ever considered that God gives us the exact experiences we need in life to help us to know that His Divine hand is in everything? I have been blessed by a true spiritual teacher, Prophet Del Hall III, who has helped me to recognize that no experience in life is simply random or coincidental. It is all a part of God’s plan to help us to grow closer to Him and to recognize that His Love is all around. I was blessed years ago when Prophet helped me to recognize the Divine gift of working with a man who showed up at my job one day. His name was Juan, and he had recently arrived in Virginia from Honduras. He was an air-conditioning and refrigeration mechanic by trade, but due to economic problems in his home country he was now working on a landscaping crew with me and trying to save as much money as he could to send home to his family. My supervisor assigned him to work with me most days because I was the only one on the crew who could explain the details of the job to Juan in Spanish. As we worked together for long hours in the hot summer sun I began to see  he had something precious, as precious as any American dollars, he had a grateful heart.

One hot humid afternoon as we pruned bushes next to a busy street, we began to talk about the spiritual side of life. Juan was a devout Christian who spoke about the Bible and God in a reverential tone. He at one point paused and said emphatically, “Every day is a gift from God.” His words went right into my heart. In that moment there was nothing to stress over. The hours of working in the summer heat, the traffic noise, feelings of loneliness since a relationship had recently come to an end, nothing that had been bothering me in days past, mattered at this point. It was a gift to simply to be alive for another day with God. While I felt Juan speaking from his heart in that moment, I know that it was also the spiritual presence of Prophet, the Voice of God, who was speaking words of Divine wisdom through him.

That conversation with my friend from Honduras helped me to look at life with a more grateful attitude. I went on to enjoy many more conversations with Juan as we became good friends. Many years have passed since I last saw Juan, but his words stay alive in my memory. Prophet, through his inner presence, has often taken me back to that moment when Juan expressed his gratitude for God and reminded me of what a precious gift of Divine love each day, and each moment, truly is.

Prophet Del Hall has also shown me that not only is each moment a precious gift from God, but that many of the people that we cross paths with in life may also be the carriers of profound gifts of love. One day when I was talking with Del about how I felt blessed to be able work with immigrants like Juan and to help them to feel more at ease in the United States, he raised the possibility that maybe Juan was a spiritual teacher who God had sent to me, because I was the one who needed some help. He certainly did teach me about gratitude and how to keep a positive attitude at a job that was not always pleasant or easy. He did this not just by things that he would say, but mostly through the example he set of often having a smile on his face and a sense of humor while he worked with enthusiasm, regardless of the weather or the task that we were assigned.

I have grown to appreciate that the Voice of God, the Holy Spirit, is always communicating to us. Sometimes the communication comes to us through the friends, co-workers, and seemingly random strangers, as well as from within ourselves. What a privilege it is to know that there is a Prophet of God upon this Earth who can help us to hear the Divine voice and to be alert to its presence in all areas of our lives.

To be successful on the path home to God you need to have remembrance of your experiences and blessings. Remembrance builds gratitude and appreciation in your heart, which makes you receptive to even more blessings. This can become an upward spiral drawing you closer to God, His Love, and His truth.

ws_blue_forget_me_not_flowers_-wallpaper-1920x1080

It was the middle of summer in 2010. The sky was a piercing blue above us as we sat nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. A gentle breeze gave a slight reprieve from the hot and humid day which permeated the air.

This was a special day. As a student of the Prophet, I have been blessed to have many special and life-changing days, but this was to become a day that touched me deeply and has stayed with me giving reassurance and a security. In class a fellow student had been sharing a story of how remembering and keeping alive her prior spiritual experiences had blessed her life. She had written many of them in her personal journals and had recently been appreciating, reviewing, and reliving some of the special times she had with God and His Prophet. She was keeping her blessings alive with remembrance and appreciation. Her talk naturally evolved into a discussion between fellow students. We shared about some of our own personal experiences with God over the years that had really touched and changed us, thanks to God’s current Prophet Del Hall.

Gratitude was seeping out of every corner of our hearts as we recalled how much Prophet had not only taught us, but helped transform our lives. We weren’t expecting anything in return, just sharing our appreciation. It was almost as if we were speaking among ourselves about how he had blessed our lives, even though he sat quietly in the back of the room listening. Suddenly he arose and went to take his place in his chair on the low stage in the front of the classroom. I could feel waves of peace, love, and appreciation spreading outward where he walked like the fragrance of the sweetest rose permeating a room. I took in a deep breath. I felt anticipation for something, but for what I did not know.

Once seated, he spoke for God, as a true Prophet of God is ordained to do. “Come together with me. Come closer. Be with me. Just be together with me.”

Remaining in our chairs we closed our eyes and listened. We followed our teacher Home to be with God. The Lord was calling us to be together with Him while we sat alive in physical bodies. We did not need to wait to know the Lord, through His current Prophet we could experience Its Grace now. The following moments were full with the immense and immeasurable beauty of being present with the Presence of God. I lacked nothing nor did I want anything. This one moment was an eternity. All that mattered was loving God and being loved by God.

God speaks in many ways beyond words. On this quiet summer day He spoke in peace, fulfillment, quietude, gentleness, love, grace, absolute contentment, and more. With everything that I know of as me, and with all that I am, my heart poured out to the Lord, saying I love you too.

After what seemed like an eternity of just being and coming together inwardly with the Lord, Prophet arose and walked out of the classroom. Students slowly began to stir themselves and flow out of the classroom as well. That moment was over, but I was transformed. Being that close to the Presence of God brought such a security, and a clarity of God’s Love for Soul that follows me into my daily life. I am so blessed. By the Grace of God I experienced His Presence hold me in loving embrace.

Relishing the blessing later that day with a good friend, I remember saying the amount of Divine Love that I experienced in those moments was enough to sustain me through eternity and transform my view of life, to one of a lasting and true security in God’s Love for Soul, for me. My friend wisely said, if you remember It.

God's Love, Gratitude, Motherhood, Remember Your Blessings

Many times when God answers a prayer it is written off as merely coincidence. This is unfortunate because one of the greatest blessings in life is actually being aware of your blessings. God does not need the credit; it is we who benefit. When we recognize and are grateful for the gifts of God’s Love in our life it opens our heart to even more Love.

Learn how to recognize the many ways God expresses His Love on a daily basis.

God has blessed me with a daughter. Being her mom is the most wondrous privilege! I am in awe watching her grow and discover new things. Since she was born I have delighted in finding new ways for her to explore. One thing she loves to do is touch our cat Lila’s fur. If left to her own devices she would get two fistfuls and a mouthful of cat hair. Lila will have none of this of course and so, I began to seek out other soft things for my daughter to play with instead.

I originally wanted to get her an animal pelt, but I could not find one. Then I found that sheep skins were sold online. The website showed babies rolling around snuggling with the fur. I thought my daughter would love this! However, the cost was more than I was willing to pay. Over time I would find myself looking at the sheep skins and then realizing it was not something she truly needed, I would abandon the idea again. One afternoon my husband, daughter, and I went for a walk down the street. Our neighbor Jeff was having a yard sale and we really enjoy talking with him so we stopped to visit. On our way out to continue the walk something from the sale caught my eye. It was a large sheepskin rug! It was one of the exact brands that I was looking at online. I took it to Jeff and asked how much it was. He insisted that I take the rug as a gift.

I was so excited because I knew this was a gift from God! One of the special facets of being with the Prophet is seeing the deeper meaning behind life events that seem like coincidences. The Prophet spoke to my heart that if he would provide even this for my daughter, then he was absolutely providing everything else she needed. My daughter loves the sheepskin. She sits on it while she plays every day. When I see it I have a beautiful reminder of God’s Love and protection for my daughter. In all circumstances she is in the care of the Lord.

Divine Protection, Gratitude, Miracle, Prayer Answered, Remember Your Blessings

God can literally reach into the physical and change the course of events to keep us safe if it is not our time to go. I wonder how many times this happens and just gets considered good luck? God certainly does not need the credit. We are the ones who benefit when our blessings are recognized.

winter_wonderland_9-wallpaper-1280x768

Traveling home from a winter class at the Nature Awareness School it had begun to snow when I got to the mountains of West Virginia. The highways were clear of snow but once I took the exit to go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the roads began to get covered and slick. There was a little red car in front of me. I was able to keep up for awhile but it was going faster than I felt was safe, so I let it gain distance until it disappeared out ahead. I was trying to be cautious and travel slower, below the speed limit.

When cresting a hill and starting down the other side I saw a tractor-trailer coming from the opposite direction. Wanting to slow down more, I pulled the gear shifter from Drive down into Third gear. Wrong thing to do! My car started to slide and then in a mild panic I over compensated which caused more sliding. The lights of the tractor-trailer were getting closer and closer! I saw a yard and some cars to my right. All I could think of was “body shop.” Now the back end of the car began to slide around toward the front of the car – “this is not good!” Now, as I am slowly spinning around and sliding towards the tractor-trailer my thought was “this is going to hurt,” so I closed my eyes and yelled out to God. It was loud and clear.

The truck came to a complete stop and my car had finally stopped moving. I did not come close to the tractor-trailer or slam into the hillside. God had his hand on my car, that is the only way it can be explained. The car stopped so gently, just before a drain inlet. There was no jarring, crunching, or damage of any kind. Once I opened my eyes and began breathing again, I knew and immediately thanked God. The tractor-trailer started up the hill again and once it had passed, all I had to do was back up a little and get over to the right side of the road. Thank you God for always being with and protecting me.

God's Love, Light of God, Prophet, Remember Your Blessings, Spiritual Travel

God’s Light and Love is everywhere. The farther we travel on the path, the greater amount of this love the Prophet can share with us and help us to accept. Sometimes the daily challenges of life cause us to lose sight of this miracle. It is however the remembrance and appreciation of God’s Love in our life that blesses us, and those we come in contact with.

country_road_at_sunset-wallpaper-1152x864

During one of the classes at the Nature Awareness School Del led us on a guided experience into the inner worlds. The Prophet, my inner teacher and spiritual guide, appeared on the screen of my inner vision. He opened his heart and shared his love. I could feel this love, God’s Love, pouring into me. He asked us to stretch and take in more love. I felt myself growing from the inside out with more love than I can ever remember feeling. We were asked to stretch again and take in more love. I continued to stretch and grow with love. The Prophet expressed how much love he wanted to share with us and I could feel this as he shared. I saw myself stretching and stretching with all that Divine Love. I was filled with so much love to the point of bursting.

We were asked to travel via the inner worlds to our homes. We were to recognize all around our homes reminders of this moment and of God’s Love. The Prophet and I traveled to my home and as I started looking, I could see this love. God’s Love was everywhere in my home. I moved around and touched the places that meant the most to me. I saw that it was God’s Love that brought these things into my life.

As I touched and recognized these gifts, golden light appeared and remained, a reminder of these incredible blessings. Going all around my home, both inside and out, I saw God’s wonderful Love in everything I held dear. Golden light reminders appeared in my home, in my studio, in the barn, and in the yard. I was reminded that every time I would use, touch, see, or think about these things I would see God’s golden Light and experience God’s Love. I pictured myself driving to work and interacting at the office, and experiencing this love all along the way. As that experience concluded, I looked forward to seeing all those reminders on the property when I returned home.

After the class ended, I drove home and upon turning down the gravel road, huge ruts and washouts crisscrossed the driveway from rainstorms that occurred while I was away. These needed immediate attention and I felt some stress building. I was scheduled to travel very early the next morning and still had to prepare and pack. I now had several hours of hard labor ahead of me to repair the driveway. Gathering up the pick, rakes, and shovels I felt a bit grumpy as I started filling in the ruts. Suddenly like a bolt out of the blue, I was reminded of all the love God has blessed me with. I could see those reminders of golden light all around, even on the driveway where I was working. I started laughing at myself for being so short sighted. I expressed my love and gratitude by singing HU, thanking God for the wonderful gifts of Divine Love that had been given just days before. What a gift to see and experience this once again! What a blessing to see those reminders, and to experience that love as I now repaired the driveway with joy in my heart.

Live Life Without Amnesia

Gratitude, Remember Your Blessings, You Make a Difference

IMG_8911

I recently heard someone say during an interview that he wanted to “live life without amnesia”. He did not want to forget God did something miraculous in his life. He was sharing the story of how a total stranger reached out to his mother and ultimately reset the entire course of her (and his) life through their act of kindness. The seemingly insignificant act of noticing her as she walked down the street with the weight of the world on her shoulders and caring enough to take the time to walk over and tell her she was not alone… that God loved her and had not forgotten about her. I’ll spare the details but the direction of her life was headed into a dark place and this one encounter changed everything. It really just goes to show the difference we can make in the world.

What an inspiring attitude – never wanting to forget a blessing. How many have been blessed in some form or fashion only to have forgotten? Daily life and all it’s distractions have a way of keeping us busy thinking about them and sadly it’s too easy to let the “urgent” overshadow the “important”. Perhaps you do not have a life changing blessing that you are aware of but I guarantee there is an act of kindness or some sort of gift from the Divine you can hold onto with gratitude. Everyone should have a few – especially for the tough days… the days when it serves us best to count our blessings. Find something to be grateful for whether it’s a hot cup of coffee, surviving an auto crash, being reunited with a loved one, an early morning walk, receiving guidance in a dream on a major decision you were struggling with, getting the job you hoped for, being “woken up”, a fresh picked tomato, sunset on the lake, personally experiencing some aspect of the Divine, finding your dream house, having love in your life, a warm fireplace on a rainy fall day… something – gratitude equals gratitude.

It is when our hearts are open that we can “hear” the Divine. Gratitude does just that. Life is short – make the best of it. What the “best” is, is up to you – no one else. But whatever your definition, gratitude will help you achieve it…. if you choose to remember.
