You do not “have” a soul – you ARE Soul….. you “have” a body. A subtle but monumentally different perspective and understanding. You are a spiritual being cloaked in a temporal “earth suit” which has an expiration date – so to say. But the real you, Soul, will carry on. You are Eternal.

daily bread

God has given you the power and free will to create a life of your choosing. A life sculpted daily by your choices and attitudes. How and what you think truly makes a difference. I cannot stress this enough – your present thoughts will manifest into future conditions. Everything in your consciousness is bound to come forth in your outer life. Those folks who have a positive outlook on life and try to always see the “silver lining” will indeed see it, if not help manifest it. A positive attitude will help to create a positive result, and the choice of how you wish to view the world is for no one else but you. You will reap what you sow – your actions, thoughts, and attitudes have power – sow gently, kindly, and wisely.

The freedom to think, dream, and create a life of your hearts desire does not mean you are alone. You most certainly are not. God’s Prophet is spiritually available to offer help at every step of the way – but ultimately you must walk your own path. If not you, who shall? If there is something in your life that is not working you have the ability to change it. There is a great responsibility and great freedom in this. Unfortunately, many seek to lay this blessing of freedom at the feet of others. Too many wish for others to tell them how to live versus following their own heart. Countless numbers who sacrifice personal freedom, their birthright as Soul, for comfort and a false security.

You are responsible for your own path and this includes asking for help. It might sound like double talk to some but asking for help and taking personal responsibility for your path are not opposites. The spiritually strong ask for help. They know the true strength is in “the team” …them and the Divine. There is nothing you cannot do if God is with you and you do your part. Granted – God does the “heavy lifting” but you are certainly not helpless.

One of the most important things you can do is to stay nourished by making time for your daily bread – your lifeline. Consistent spiritual nourishment is key to being able to hear those gentle whisperings from Spirit, which lead to an abundant life.

If you wish to stay spiritually nourished you must find time to connect with the Divine every day. Just as your physical body needs good healthy food to stay fit – so do you as a spiritual being, Soul. Your daily bread is your lifeline. Whether it be prayer, the reading of Scripture, focusing on something you are grateful for, connecting with your spiritual guide in contemplation, or the singing of God’s holy name, HU, you need spiritual food. Watch what happens if you don’t water a plant, or if you stop eating physical food. It’s no different spiritually – you will wither. Yes, you may still be breathing but are you truly alive? Do you have abundant life?

Life will always try to find a way to take your attention elsewhere so it is up to you, if it is in your heart, to stay connected. You can chisel out time in your day if it is important to you. Is it too much to ask for the Kingdom of Heaven here and now – a few moments a day to tune in?

Food for thought….

HERE is a great source of Daily Bread.

A Wave of God’s Love

Each and everyone of us can be a point of light in our respective spheres. Our friends, family, and the countless others whose paths we cross in the course of our day can be lifted up in our presence. It is a conscious choice on our part to stay tuned in with Spirit and allow the Love of God to flow through us – wherever we are. What a wonderful way to serve.

Several years ago I stood in line at the grocery store. The store was so crowded even the line for the Express Lane went halfway down an aisle. As I waited, I silently sang HU, that glorious love song to God, as taught to me by Del Hall, my teacher and a true Prophet of God. As the line crawled forward, a large man got in line directly behind me. He seemed quite agitated. He complained rather loudly about the long line, slamming his keys repeatedly against a shelf. I felt uncomfortable standing next to him. Others in line seemed to be trying to pretend he or they were somewhere else. His intensity was building and it seemed like sooner or later someone was going to be on the receiving end of his apparent frustration. I was pretty sure the clerk running the cash register in our lane was going to be that someone.

The line shuffled along awkwardly for several more minutes until finally I reached the conveyor belt near the register. The man behind me said “excuse me,”  abruptly shoving his items down next to me. He grumbled again about having to wait so long. If you’ve ever worked in retail or worked a cash register, you know that a single individual can sometimes greatly affect your day, especially when you are tired. You might see a hundred people in a day, but one single customer can stand out as being exceptionally kind or unpleasant. The Prophet has taught for years that we affect others with our words, thoughts, and actions. We cannot control whether or not we send out “waves” that impact others – either negatively or positively, but we do have control over what kind of waves we send out. “What kind of waves do you want to make?” Del would often remind us.

I had managed to keep my heart open and continued to sing HU silently in the checkout line when I got the nudge to speak to the man. With a deep breath and silent trust in the Prophet, I turned and said “not very fast today, are they?” – stating the incredibly obvious. Instead of agitating him further, my words instead seemed to calm him. He agreed with my obvious statement and added that it is never fast. The Express Lane is always slow in every grocery store he goes into. I made another agreeable comment and then a weird thing happened. We both laughed. It was like Spirit turned a release valve and let off a great deal of pressure. It was very tangible.

I turned back in line and after a few more moments, I finally reached the cashier. I turned to him again and jokingly said, “End of the line, finally, – you almost made it!” He chuckled and said “yeah, NOW it’s the Express Lane!” When I finished paying he said “you take care now.” I looked back and smiled as I heard the cashier ask him, “How are you, today?” The man calmly responded, “I’m doing OK, thank you.”

Spirit will not violate one’s free will, and it was not my intention to change the man’s mind or mood. Singing HU kept my heart open to God, and the Holy Spirit found an opening to gracefully diffuse an uncomfortable situation. I was blessed to see the Hand of God grace my everyday life, perhaps the man was blessed to cast some of his cares behind and have a better day, and the cashier was spared from a potentially unpleasant interaction.

Life is full of situations like that, seemingly small, commonplace experiences that challenge and test us, and offer the opportunity to be a victim of circumstances or remain above the fray. Being aware of the Prophet spiritually as we go about our day can inspire us to be more of the cause in our lives and less the effect of others’ moods, words, and opinions. How freeing this is to experience! God loves us and wants us to be happy! How incredibly blessed I am to know a living Prophet who teaches me to do this very thing. “What kind of waves do you want to send out?”

True Freedom

July 4th is a time when this country and those in it take a moment to reflect on freedom. A long time student of the Nature Awareness School did just this. She looked at the difference between earthly freedoms and ones more spiritual in nature and found it is when we transition from the “condensing” effects of fear, to the boundless state of Soul that we can experience freedom – true freedom.  Enjoy!

These inspiring resources can help you on your way to spiritual freedom.

TRUE FREEDOM

As I was making plans to celebrate Independence Day this July 4th, I began to reflect on freedom and what it means to be free…truly free. The individual rights and freedoms we enjoy in this country (and maybe sometimes take for granted) are gifts from God. As an American, I can also more broadly exercise another gift from God, my free will. A person living here can pretty much live whatever kind of life he or she wishes to live, so long as they follow the law. If someone is willing to work for it, he could start a business, obtain a skill or get an education; buy a house and cars; have as many children as he wishes; travel the world, and take advantage of all the luxuries technology and modern society has to offer. These can all be positive things and help make life easier, but is this all there is to freedom?

In my twenties I discovered backpacking and took a real liking to the simplicity of carrying everything you needed on your back, but I was afraid of the dark and being alone in the woods. I kept thinking a wild animal was lurking behind every tree. My mind played tricks on me and falling asleep was often difficult. I heard every rustle of the trees and sound of the night. This kept me on guard most of the time, and even though I continued to go on these trips, I wasn’t free to fully relax into the peace and stillness of nature until I got over these fears.

Fear, guilt, worry, feeling unworthy, greed, anger, lust, vanity; these are jailers of Soul – the Real You. There may be an appearance of freedom in our outer life or we may think we are free, but if caught in one of these negative states or “passions of the mind” it is like being in a prison of our own making. Most often we are blind to it. These things sap goodness from life and steal joy from experiences. They prevent us from being able to express what’s in our hearts to those we love the most, or make it difficult to ask for and accept help. They make us feel we are not good enough or have to prove ourselves. They hold us back from pursuing our innermost dreams and from being the best we can be. True freedom is being free of these balls and chains we’ve been dragging around with us forever.

It wasn’t until I began attending spiritual retreats at the Nature Awareness School that I recognized how fear was impacting me. It took the light shed by Divine Spirit to help me see what I could not see on my own. It was not just the fears surrounding backpacking either, fear had bled into other areas of my life as well. I also realized I had a lot of insecurity that was hurting my relationships and influencing my choices and decisions in a negative way. Through these retreats I received help from my spiritual teacher Del in letting go of all this and finding true freedom. Freedom to take responsibility, to make conscious choices and to create a life that brings me happiness (I mean deep-in-the-bones happiness), independent of the mainstream trends and popular opinion. This has inspired me to pursue the dearest dreams in my heart.

It was during these retreats that I learned about Gratitude. Gratitude is the secret of love and love opens your heart! When your heart is open, and if you allow it, God’s love will work miracles in your life and release you from all that holds you back. It’s really true. This Divine love can heal, uplift, give comfort and solace, bring peace and clarity, find balance and harmony, re-kindle the joy and zest for living, develop confidence, and activate Soul’s creative spark that helps find solutions to any problem life may present. God has transformed my life in these ways and has woven his blessings into my daily life in such a way that everywhere I look, I see evidence of His love and how he wants me (and all his children) not just happy, but Truly Free.

One needs spiritual nourishment as well as physical nourishment. How else will you be able to run the good race?

You do not “have” a soul – you ARE Soul….. you “have” a body. A subtle but monumentally different perspective and understanding. You are a spiritual being cloaked in a temporal “earth suit” which has an expiration date – so to say. But the real you, Soul, will carry on. You are Eternal.
